NEW SEASON TRENDS: AUTUMN MUST HAVES

Now autumn is here, I hope you’re all ready for the sea of beige, burgundy and khaki. The cosy season is rolling in, getting colder and colder (fellow students, I feel your pain) and so it’s time to dust off our wooly knits. These are my new season must haves.

The Power Suit
One of my biggest obsessions this season is a pant suit, the blazer in particular. Women are going to work and looking like a boss whilst doing it. Or even just going to a meal or event. You can make the blazer look smart with the matching trousers or more casual with some cycling shorts. It’s hard to not feel empowered wearing a suit, putting a feminine touch on something associated with masculinity.
Women are now incorporating more masculine clothes into their style and ‘power’ dressing for a purpose. I got a pinstriped blazer from Missy Empire recently and I am on the search for the perfect coloured full pant suit.

Oversized Knits
They’re even better with a turtle neck. It’s cosy season and so my hundreds of jumpers are getting their time in the light. I am not a autumn/winter person but cosy jumpers make it worth it. The best places to go for a knit/wooly jumper are Urban Outfitters and Topshop if you don’t mind spending a little extra, H&M do the best winter jumpers and at an affordable price and if you’re on a budget go to Primark. Don’t you love it when someone asks you where you got something from and you can say Primark when they think it was expensive. Another knit that I love at the moment are tight, crop nits with a slightly high neck.

The Jumper Dress
This kind of goes with the oversized knits. A knitted jumper dress worn with some sock boots and a belt is a season must have. This is the same for a classic t-shirt dress, worn with (shock) cycling shorts. Talking of t-shirt dresses, I bought one from PrettyLittleThing in an 8 which was tighter than I wanted so I ordered one in a 10 but a different colour which was like a tent!! So I ended up getting it in a 6 and it is still massive?? How does that work PrettyLittleThing?? It’s a good thing my mum is good at sewing!!

MOM Jeans, Yes It Is THAT Time Again
The not so flattering but kind of flattering jeans that are comfier than skinny jeans and give you a bit more give when you go for a meal. Also I’m praying one of my denim jackets matches one of my pairs of mom jeans cos that’s ultimate 90’s really isn’t it! I tend to prefer a tight, crop jumper with mum jeans otherwise they can be so unflattering.

Oversized Leather Bags
I absolutely love an oversized leather bag (faux obviously) that I can fit all my hand creams, lip balms and random junk in. Although, I need to stop buying black ones and mix it up and get some other coloured ones; mustard and red are my main goal to get. (I also really want a grey one and no it doesn’t count as black, maybe it will have a coloured lining??). Where do you get yours from? I tend to get mine from H&M but also love ones from Topshop and Urban Outfitters.

Ankle Boots and Trainers
Move over sandals and sliders it’s time for heavy ankle boots and comfy trainers (even though I wore these all summer). Ankle boots are an autumn staple, you wait all year round to pull them out the back of your cupboard and wear with cute skirts. As I mentioned before, the shoe I am obsessed with is a sock boot. If you have any suggestions of really nice sock boots please let me know, I’m trying to find an amazing pair, the front runner at the moment is the Public Desire Renzo boot. Another boot which makes an appearance when it gets cold is the knee high boot. These and obviously the sock boot are perfect with a cute jumper dress and belt. Going with the 90’s fashion, which if you’ve read my previous post you’ll know I live for, wear Reebok Club C 85’s or Nike Air Force 1’s with your mom jeans and an oversized puffer jacket.

Expect to see many of these trends on my Instagram from my travels over the holidays.
